Generation Farms - Onions and Drone

The Generation Farms Story

Our roots began in 1974 when a well know local family commenced its operations as Stanley Farms (“Stanley”) growing the world’s best-known onions – the Vidalia Onions.   In 2015, the Company was acquired by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (“Foundation”).   Thereafter, the Foundation sold the company to the Investment Corporation of Dubai’s agriculture and food division our ultimate parent company. Today, we grow approximately 1,500 acres of yellow, red and sweet “Vidalia” onions, approximately 800 acres of watermelons and market Peruvian onions to our customers in the Vidalia off-season.  We are truly a year-round home-grown company distributing our products 52 weeks a year in the U.S. and Canada.
