Generation Farms - Onions and Drone

Growing the Generation Farms Legacy

Generation Farms originated in the 1970s as a small agricultural operation in Vidalia, Georgia, cultivating one of the world’s most recognized specialty crops: the Vidalia® sweet onion.

In 2015, the company was acquired by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Subsequently, ownership transitioned to Optimum ICD Holdings, marking a new phase of strategic growth and operational expansion.

Today, Generation Farms produces yellow, red, and sweet Vidalia onions, complemented by the cultivation of watermelons, blueberries and avocados, and maintains year‑round supply continuity by sourcing from different markets during the off-season.

We operate as a fully integrated, year‑round supplier—delivering consistent, high‑quality produce 52 weeks a year across the United States and Canada.
